I was passing through Market Street a few days ago and I came across a man begging, with an insulin pen amongst his property - it immediately caught my attention. I noticed that he was being harassed and I stopped walking to grab the attention of the perpetrator. I asked him what his problem was, so he turned to me and began a diatribe against the homeless. I had a few stern words with him and persisted until he eventually ******** off. I didn't catch the name of the homeless man, but he told me that he'd been a type 1 diabetic for 25 years. He was clearly distressed by what had happened and he told me that he is harassed regularly. I had nothing to offer him but a bit of spare change. I ask kind hearted Mancunians to keep an eye out for him, and share your alcohol wipes or hypo treats with him if you spot him. He's a nice fellow with a board Lancashire accent. Thanks x

There, but for the grace of God, go I.

I know a manager in a shelter and he once told me that we are all only 3 steps away from being homeless. That is to say a culmination of 3 events can make any of us homeless. With this in mind none of is should ever harass a homeless person, or anybody else for that matter .
