Hello, I'm an adult with slow onset of type 1 and I'm very much in my honeymoon phase, however my honeymoon seems to have to diminished a bit further since I got diagnosed.
Type 1 is an autoimmune condition, unfortunately no Type 1 (or indeed any Diabetic) can be completely cured but it can be managed, Diabetes is a chronic condition but I think a type called Gestational Diabetes typically can disappear after birth, but I'm not too clued up on that type).
My DN has told me over and over that they have patients who think they've been cured or misgiagnosed because their sugars start to normalise and they come off the treatments. In every case they've had to go back on to treatment eventually.
The next step is really to get in touch with your daughter's Diabetes support team/nurse etc and let them advise you and you daughter, it is risky to assume after 1 week of no insulin requirement that all will be ok in the coming days/weeks/months. How did your daughter decide to come off the insulin altogether? Is she off both the basal and bolus injections? I'm asking more out of curiousity really.
