Well here I am again after following a lot of sound advice I've received from kind people here. I'm having my first bloods taken tomorrow after my diagnosis (of 49) and hoping I've done well. I found it hard to lose weight due to an underactive thyroid but I've managed 2st 4lbs. My son helps me with a spreadsheet each week on which we note my big levels and it's shown a steady drop though there are still some spikes. I don't know whether the diet I've been following is sustainable in the long term but it's certainly helped me through the first 3 months and I'm now at my target weight. I'm just going to alter one thing and that's to cut out milk. I only had it once a day (skimmed 1%) but I'm sure it affects me. Now going to drink tea without milk. I don't know why I haven't been doing this along as I find it much more refreshing than coffee. Again, thank you for all the amazing advice I've been given and have found here for myself. I look forward to coming back next week with good news. Thank you all!!

You can actually taste real tea without milk!

Couldn't not never ever, drink tea with milk ever!

I remember my nan had sterilised milk in hers! Yuk!

Yes, really it's lovely and whenever I'm in Turkey I drink it black because I can't bear their terrible sterilised stuff!!

Well done on your terrific weight loss. Be sure to report back with your blood results

Well done with your weight loss. I hope your results are excellent. I have the skimmed milk in my tea and it doesn't spike me. Strange how we are all different. Good luck

Thank you Bluetit1802. It's the most odd condition. I can eat half a jacket potato with a bit of cheese yet I can't have a splash of skimmed milk???
