hospital appointment

Anyone who knows me knows i've been having problems with my GP. I've recently received an appointment for the hospital for a colonoscopy. In the letter it states that i must check my levels the morning of the appointment and they must be between 6 and 12. With me not being allowed a testing meter i can't do this so i rang and explained the situation. They said that if it was over 12 they would not do the procedure. They also said they could not believe that I wasn't allowed a meter because how could I ever know my levels at any given time, (my point entirely) Ive got an appoinment with my GP tomorrow because he has to tell me how to adjust my medication for the day. So it should be a very interesting consultation with him.

Thanks for both your replies. As previously stated i'm still struggling with my emotions but my wife is going with me and she stands no messing and will kick ass which is probably a good thing for me. You're probably asking why she hasn't been before, it's because I haven't let her go but I think it's time I unleashed her on him, (he'll need a doctor by the time she's finished with him.....joking). I've taken note of your questions and i'll ask him them tomorrow (or the boss will I should say).

I had a colonoscopy yesterday afternoon although its calle an a**ascope in my house.
I had a bg of well over 33 and had no problems with the procedure at all. The picolax is infinitely the worst part lol.
Go in with a positive attitude and you'll be fine. If it hurts you can ask for a sedative. I think its the thought of what they are doing and seeing that made me apprehensive. Just tell yourself they do it everyday and even though we worry they've seen it all before.

If its any help I've got spare meters coming out of my a**e. I get all the new ones when they come out from my dsn.
I will send u one if u want.
It might give u a bit of leverage with ur gp. I've got the meter so meet me half way and give me the test strips sort of thing.
If u want one let me know and I can put a meter in the post 2morro
