Hi
This is just a thought i'm not sure why a hot bath would elevate your sugar levels and to be honest i am a type1 and never checked my sugars after a hot bath, but a sauna may up your sugars as you may have slightly dihydrated, so drink plenty while in the sauna.
Remember we are all different.
Take care.

This is something I have not experienced, but then I cannot stand a bath that is anywhere near approaching hot. I tend to overheat at the best of times and occasionally get a short duration spike with accompanying sweating, so I would think it would be something to do with the central nervous system and the release of glucose to produce sweat to cool you down.
My son is T1 and he will often hypo from a warm/hot bath if he goes in at the same time as his insulin is peaking. I believe this is due to the blood vessels dilating.
I find the same thing happens to me with a hot bath or even a shower, it will increase my BG alot and then keep it up for 2-3 hours afterwards. I was a bit suprised to find this, as I thought hot baths/showers usually brought BG levels down in most people, but then I suppose everyone is effected differently by different things.
Nothing drops me as fast as a hot bath...I always have to get my sugars into double figures for a bath, and if not Hypo.
I know hot days I have trouble keeping Blood Sugars up ,I think it is your body using the extra energy to regulate temperature.
So why would it make a Type 2's sugar go up??? Interesting.
