Do you think we should make and advice column for diabetics m. I know that's pretty much this forum but we could make it more formal or make it a whole dcuk publication

Sounds like double handling to me, the forum is hard enough to navigate with out more bloat for newcomers.

I meant as like part of dcuks newsletter or something

There is an email newsletter with links

Personally I like both this forum as a means of getting advice and support, and also Think Like A Pancreas for when I need/want a book.

A qualified diabetic who wanted to, or maybe a few people could rotate
We're all qualified diabetics. Not a qualification we want but qualified nonetheless.
Maybe an expert diabetic? The forum exists because of the expertise it has.

Just out of idle curiosity - what makes someone a "qualified" diabetic?

I actually think that we're already getting plenty of excellent advice and information - often on an expert one to one basis from both our moderators and our (often very) experienced members.

We already have
  • comprehensive information on many basic and important diabetic topics on our main site
  • many stickies in various sections of the forum that contain essential information
  • sections of the forum devoted to particular types and areas of diabetes
  • and the forum search option is a useful tool to help dig out any of this information you may need
But if you want an advice column, then you could always use the forum blog option to start one yourself to post whatever you feel we're missing???

It should be an option on your account settings. Have a look. Also, check your junk email folder in case you are getting them but they're going there.

To me an advice column means someone asks a question and then someone else who knows the answer, answers them. Isn't that what we are already doing?

More formal? Erm no thanks..this place is serious enough as it is..

The forum and indeed the website is fine as is. There's a saying - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Diabetic Educater? Didn't one of those start a thread on why diabetics fail at diets and hasn't been seen since the unqualified diabetics answered
