Hi , may I ask if u have T1 or T2 ? I guess it’s probably T1 , given your are very young .

If you take insulin , ur insulin intake should match with ur diet and ur doctor advise , so pls only follow your doctor advise or ask to see a nutritionist.

Im T2 , for me generally it’s better to have less carbs and sugar: less rice , less bread , less potato , no honey or jam , no fruit juice or sweat fruits , ..

But I would ask my medical team because you are on insulin and if u go on a diet that lowers your BG more than intended , it can be very very dangerous.

So please ask ur doctor and check your BG regularly. You can start by changing your diet very slowly , to know your limits . Also a moderate exercise would help if there is no other medical condition. And be very observant of your feelings and symptoms !

It’s very easy to advice ppl here on what to eat and what not to eat , and very comforting to hear from ppl with similar condition but , at the end of the day diabetes is a serious illness and only a medical professional who knows every single detail about your case , should tell you what to eat or not to eat.

I hope things get better very soon. A1c 7.8 is relatively high ( mine was 7.5 at diagnosis ) but it’s not that high compared to many ppl here . Don’t worry. Take care ! :)

Hi @Nirav_1812 ,

Welcome to the forum.

What insulins are you prescribed? Long acting accompanied by short acting for meals?
Getting the basal dosage right for starters is the foundation for steady BG managment..

What is your current diet, what do you enjoy eating?
There may already be some foods in your list that can help you gain weight.?

Give a little more info, & in conjunction with your health team plus a few tips from past experience on the T1 front, you may find your "happy ground."
