how come my vision is blurry when bg ok?

yesterday i was convinced that my bg had rocketed because I had slightly blurry vision and felt really tired, but when i tested my blood it was 4.1! this happens occasionally and i cant think why, any ideas?
also i get numb hands and fingers (but not feet) at night. I'm thinking (and hoping) that its because of my job (i work with horses so muck out all day)what do you think?
My control is pretty good (at the moment) but i occasionally go through bad patches where it goes very high for a week or two - whether this is hormones playing a part i don't know (i wish i did cause it's really annoying!). could these 'bad spells' be damaging my body and causing these effects?
any suggestions welcome.

I look after 3 horses so i know what ya mean about the mucking out etc
As for your blurry vision hmmmm from my experience and not necessarily yours. I started to have blurry vision the only way i could describe it was looking thru a glass of water filled.... anyway turned out that i had some leaky fluid in the eyes had to have laser treatment. also I find when bloods are touching 4 i tend to have blurry vision as they class 4 as a hypo! and this could be a sign for you that your bloods are lowering. as for the numbness i get it too, been told by docs that its possibly my blood pressure tablets i am on or the fact that i have been a diabetic for over 20years so my circulation isnt what it used to be. But thats my experience and as I said its not necessaryly yours. I would go and get a check at the docs or tell the doc next time you visit the diabetic clinic.
