been testing a new lo carb and fibre regime... 20
pm today i had meat and butterbean mash.. 2 hours later sugars 7.. 4 hours later sugars 10.. no pills or foid in interim period.. how can this be... as fibre dissipates can it shoot up even without new food?

It will be the butter beans. I have to be careful of pulses.

Its the weird and wonderful world of diabetic diets.

Did you do any exercise, or were you sedentary after, as that can make a difference.

watched some footy on tv.. so no exercise (was earlier).. can the dissipation of butter bean fibre allow it to rise after the first 2 hrs?

I've found anything can happen.
With me, green and yellow lentils, one is fine, the other's like sugar to me.
I just avoid lentils as I can never remember which one though!

It also seems to depend what combinations you have, my policy was to try various foods, if they didn't work I'd knock them off my list, and move on.
So you could try butterbeans again, but if they don't work with meat again, move on to cauli mash.

The small and often works well for me.

im experimenting also ad you did... butter beans kept sugar low for 2 hrs after meal (meat and butterbeans) but then jump up the subsequent 2 hes when no meds or food taken.. thought?

Butter beans are a low-GI carb and could take a while to be absorbed. The fat in the meat may also have helped slow down absorption as well. The figure of 10 implies the portion size may have been slightly high?

I always exercise immediately after eating, even if its just a stroll, makes a big difference to me

I make cauli cheese with philly and cream and grated cheese. Very nice.
