confused ???

The readings you take with your meter are instantaneous and are measured in mmol/L. don't worry about that, just know that the units the doctor uses to measure your blood sugar are different ones. The numbers look like they refer to your Hba1c and they are measured in mmol/mol. See here.

If you are on insulin a low Hba1c might mean you are occasionally hypoglycemic which may be why they are happy with those numbers. You should ask them though.

Presumably, those are a1c test results which are different from the glucose tests you're taking before meals. An a1c test essentially measures your average 3-month blood sugar levels (it's actually a lot more complicated than that, but that's the basic concept), and the pre-meal tests you're doing only measure your glucose levels at a specific point in time (with a 10-20% margin of error).

Assuming those are a1c numbers, you had a significant drop in your a1c level from 70 mmol/mol (or about 8.6%) down to 56 mmol/mol (about 7.3%). That roughly equates to an average blood sugar of 11.1 down to 9.0.

In laymans terms, you should be proud with the drop from 70 down to 56. However, most of us wouldn't consider an a1c of 56 "Good enough" as it can lead to more serious problems down the road.

Optimally, you'd want your a1c to be in the 30s, but that's very wishful thinking. Getting down into the low 40s would still be considered very good.

Look at
http://www.diabetes.co.uk/what-is-hba1c.html

HbA1c is an average of the previous few months and doesn't equate exactly to your daily readings but further down the page it shows comparable figures.
That is a great improvement in HbA1c so well done. You might want to try to get it a bit lower but that is a good start.
