How do you know?....

I think it depends on the GP practice as when I asked my DN last year if I was in remission she told me I was just well controlled so I am still classed as being T2 diabetic despite having a hba1c in normal levels for about 5 years whilst other practices seem to say their patients are in remission after 2 years of normal levels. My latest GP was surprised when I told him I was diabetic because he hadn’t gone back far enough in my notes to notice it! I labelled myself ‘in remission’ as that’s what I consider myself to be.
 
Personally I don’t think that using HbA1c as a marker for having reversed or resolved T2D is correct.

It can diagnose that you do have T2D but not that you don’t.
