If you are able...print out some info about LCHF diet...try dietdoctor. com...just to give some idea for the doctor what you are actually eating/doing as the diet's name does give kind of wrong impression what it is all about and to confirm that it is actually very sensible diet to follow. When I first mentioned it to my hubby...he was picturing me chomping into chunks of lardFinsky, thank you, what a lovely response. I am really touched. I have to make an appointment with the private doctor on Monday, and make a list of all the things I need to talk to her about - as it is private, I get a whole hour!!! Then we will see after that. Nanoo, just a suggestion. Given that you live in the sticks, and your GP is unsupportive of your care, could you request a referral to the hospital diabetes clinic? Given that your Hashimoto's is not being treated, that you are on insulin and forgetful, I think you are entitled to expect some decent support. There is also a list of things that your care is supposed to consist of, and you certainly aren't getting them! Mind you - I don't think many of us are
Have you tried talking to your insurer about Consultants/GPs that they might be able to direct you to? What county are you in?
Do you actually live in Belgium or the UK? That will effect any advice.

@nannoo_bird , I would be astonished if you actually found no GP in your area doing private work, in diabetes. That would not stop a GP (indeed any GP, who was not ethically completely against private medicine) making a referral to specialist diabetes care or dietary support. Where they might struggle it to make such a referral to the NHS aspect of such care.I'm in the UK.
