Of course I could be wrong just like thousands of others.My parents never drank alcohol. My older sister was alcoholic but was not T2. I have been teetotal for 25 years and yet I am T2. I live in a multi ethnic community and can say that I have seen those of the Islamic faith who partake in smoking and drinking and those who do not. I am not aware through my reading of anyone who blames alcohol alone for their diagnosis.

I've been told brocolli and cauliflower are to be watched for underactive thyroid sufferers. They must be very well cooked and not hard. Uncooked veg aren't good for thyroid conditions, just like iodine.Thanks for the advice, going to get some cabbage and hopefully sauerkraut or kimchi.
Well, I can tell you that my FT4 was 1 point lower 6 months ago with the same TSH value and I felt functional. Now it is 1 point higher with the same TSH and I feel horrendously bad. No one measured my FT3, but I bet it is higher as well. Time to load up on some anti-thyroid herbs and teas and foods, because maybe it is a coincidence, but I was eating brocolli almost every day. I stopped all carbs for a few weeks due to diabetes and now have hyperthyroid symptoms. Maybe brocolli was keeping things at bay hehe.

I don't know much about the pancreas as my liver's performance has influenced my body more and I don't have brittle diabetes or type1 which is more in keeping with it affecting the body.I started off my journey with diabetes symptoms and went on to do type 1 tests. Antibodies were negative. However, I then reflected on my older lab results for thyroid and I had present of anti-TPO antibodies (within limits though) and my FT3 and FT4 are on the high end for at least a year.
Forum members might remember me asking about diabetes when I failed OGTT. My endo thinks all is fine but is it? I am symptomatic for hyperthyroidism and the main cause of it is usually autoimmune issue. Now, if I failed OGTT and don't have antibodies against pancreas, can it still mean that thyroid being attacked actually is damaging the pancreas as well?
Any insight is appreciated. I was floored with this realisation today and have never felt more depressed for Christmas.

The thyroid however has been influenced by diet and the liver. For me. My underactive thyroid is due to my struggling body and not being damaged by antibodies my endo believes.
I needed more levothyroxine when I was 4st heavier. When I'm pregnant too.
Next I'll be told that t3 cannot work properly because of fat cells and infact I'm thyroxine resistant and not suffering with hypothyroidism. Really?

Goitrogenic compounds are primarily found in cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, broccolini, cauliflower, mustard greens, kale, turnips, and collards. And some other foods. Goitrogens reduce the thyroid's conversion of substances into thyroid hormone. As TH goes lower than normal we get sluggish, depressed, want to sleep, fatter and our hair falls out. As TH goes higher we accelerate and have trouble sleeping, sweat a lot, get the shakes, overactive, lose weight, increased heart rate and our bodies can speed up so fast it sends us to ER or kill us. Thyroid rage, called it is, avoid you must.

That's when it's time to have your TH checked. Not your typical hypo.
HypoT is TH too low, HyperT is TH too high. Raw foods with goitrogens will reduce TH making hypoT worse. Or the same foods will make things better for HyperT to reduce TH because it's too high. Cooking, even steaming or fermenting will destroy the enzyme which then causes it to have no effect.

Be careful. See my last post. I had 6mths of investigations.Thanks, yes, I am eating those veggies raw, no cooking. I discovered that it is actually tasty. I am definitely hyper, hence trying to eat against it and use supplements to remove excess thyroid hormones. Don't need more of them.
And yes, I am irritable somewhat. People walking on the pavement in front of me and not moving out of my way annoys me. Stopped all caffeine, started multivitamin with Bs, magnesium but have not tried relaxation techniques yet.
