How long after eating small snacks can I check BG?

insulintree

Newbie
We all know the rule, wait 2 hours after eating a meal before checking blood glucose. But recently I've been wondering if, when eating small food items, not full meals, whether it is necessary to wait 2 hours, or whether this time would be reduced? I'm still fairly new to all this, only had type 1 for around 6 months.

Many thanks in advance

Hello! I’d experiment and see - test an hour and two hours after you’ve eaten to see when/if your blood sugar rises. You may still be “honeymooning” and producing a little insulin still, so careful observation is the way to go, especially in these early days. All our bodies are different, and they don’t always behave according to the numbers

Whenever you check, remember your insulin remains in your system for about 4 hours before you make any corrections.
If you correct too soon you risk hypoing.
