Hi we are on 4 weeks since dx and son is 6 (not much action on the parent forum). He started with a cough on sunday nght and had a cold - his number started going up tue night not real high but highest of 13 (still honeymooning). Hes now feeling better and cold seems to be going but hes still running high at times. How long do things take to return to what they were before illness? For example he woke at 6.8 (normally lower about 5) had his usual breakfast with same units or novorapid at same ratio as normal. In the past by 10.30/11am he would be about 6/7, today and yesterday he has been 13/12. Same with the bedtime... he goes to bed on 8 and by 11pm after being in bed hours hes at 12/13... all units have stayed the same and ratios the same. I know i can correct but hes coming down on his own ok, yesterday after being at 13 at 10.30am he was 4.4 by 12.15pm.....

Even when the symptoms of a cold or flu disappear it can take days for the body to fully recover and bg can remain higher, hopefully in a day or two things will start to settle down, if not contact your lads DSN.

I'll be asking our lovely DSN the very same question tomorrow!

Our 6 year old has just got over an awful bout of flu and still has a lingering cough but it's been about 2 weeks now since she first came down with it and she's still running really high...

I'll keep you posted as to what they suggest.

x
