That is maybe true, but metformin does have other uses. For me it greatly reduced symptoms of PCOS. I will keep taking them even though my blood work as come in 5.9 or under for the last year. That's excellent. Don't take this the wrong way, but T2 is only considered reversed/cured if you're off all diabetes meds and have normal blood glucose levels (i.e. below "prediabetic" levels). Is there a reason you're still on the metformin? A while ago I ran out of metformin and went to see a doctor to get a new prescription. He looked at my A1c results and said I should try going without the metformin. I did and there was no difference in my levels, so am now still not taking it.

It isn't even vaguely true.
If 500mg of metformin made that much difference, there would be no T2 diabetics left in the world.
I elected to be on the same dose solely for the other benefits that seem to be published about it, with no side effects for me, and I intend to stay on the same for the foreseeable future.
Sometimes there is too much of a rush to try to be 'med free'.
I never said that Metformin was the reason my BG was in normal range.
I eat Low carb moderate fat and believe that is what has given me good results.
I had many symptoms of PCOS, and since taking Metformin the symptoms have lessened.
I was on Metformin before changing my eating and it did little to lower my BG.
I don't disagree. I was just pointing out that usually the definition for type 2 reversal includes not being on any diabetes meds.I never said that Metformin was the reason my BG was in normal range.

Sometimes things don't come through as intended via text. Sorry.Yes, I was agreeing with you.
I reversed my diabetes with the Newcastle Diet.
I doubt Metformin makes any difference to my BG levels either.
True. Guess I'll never be reversed but for me it not important what I am defined as.I don't disagree. I was just pointing out that usually the definition for type 2 reversal includes not being on any diabetes meds.
Sorry, but if you're taking Diabetes meds in any shape or form, you are in no position to claim anything other than controlled...
To claim otherwise is nothing short of deluded and misleading.
No, to claim 500mg of metformin is a magic bullet would be, I'm afraid.
Let's be very clear, for any newbie reading this, metformin makes a very minimal difference, it's not a free pass.
Don't let anyone convince you it is.
I haven't made that claim. Or any other claims. It is however a Diabetes med, regardless of its effectiveness, so I just find it absurd to make a claim of cured, reversed or any other descriptor other than controlled whilst taking it.
