Hey,

Just wondering how long does it take people to heal after they change the cannula?

I only use my belly for infusion sites and it seems i have little red marks for a while and it doesn't look horrible and definately isn't any sign of infection just seems to make it look a bit awful to be honest..

I change my cannula every two days at the most, sometimes change after a day as i like to take it out when i shower instead of just dis-connecting then i can give my belly a good scrub

I've occasionally taken it out and it's bled for a little while.

i'm using 6mm rapid-D cannula's, never painful and i use wipes to help loosen the sticky pads so i'm not really catching myself when i take it out.

I've ripped the cannula out twice though (ouch) and managed to pull the tubing off but the cannula stayed in! ... stupid door handles!

It's usually barely noticeable where the last set came out but on the odd occasion we've had a slightly red looking mark which takes a couple of days to go. It's only where the cannula entered the skin, not a larger circle under where the sticky plaster bit has been. But a couple of days ago one of the sets came out with a little bump where the cannula had been, almost looking like a small blister. Jess said it was itchy and it's looking a bit red, but nothing too nasty so I expect it would have healed by today or tomorrow. I think she scratched it as it was itchy so that didn't help. On the whole we're happier though because the injections used to leave bruising quite often and we don't get that so much anymore.
