I have been having readings around 4.0-5.5 mmol/l for the last couple of weeks.
Yesterday I was feeling a bit less energetic than I have for the last couple of weeks - think I have been a bit hyperactive due to the change of diet so that may not be connected.

Had a bit more fruit than usual during the day - 4-5 smallish apples, blueberries - and a few cherries which is new.
Took a reading before dinner and it was 7.3. Worried me until I realised I would have been very happy with that a few weeks ago.
Pre dinner has always been under 5 for the last couple of weeks though.
I had dinner - got some exercise and 2 hours later it was down to 6.5, This morning it is 5.5. Has usually been around 4.5.

Do you think it is the fruit that has pushed it up - it seemed more like it was system thing rather than food - is that possible? The body just deciding to pushing the BG up - I would guess that would be the liver due to me being less active than I have been?

More importantly - how long does it take to come down after a spike? When I first started it seemed t take 3-4 days to get things under control. This seems to be coming down slowly over several hours.

Hi Charon,
Fruit will indeed push your BGs up as it contains sugar. Berries are generally ok, but apples can contain around 12g of carbs and 4 of those is a fair amount of sugar. There's a great book that I use called Carbs and Cals by Colins that has the carb content of most foods that you can think of:
