I tested before every meal then 2 hrs later to find out the max carbs a day and per meal.
I was lucky, having started low carb immediately after I was diagnosed so the max carbs per meal for me while keeping my BG low was 30g.
Normally I tend to keep my max to 50-60 carbs a meal and that suits me fine, however at Christmas, birthdays, meals out with friends or on holiday it can go considerably higher
Some of this is because its slightly easier to control with not ahideous amount of carbs and secondly its cos I'm getting older it seems much easier to put on weight
But yeah if out I don't limit myself to specific amounts, I can bolus for it no matter how much it is
Usually it's no more than 30-40g, but sometimes I want to have a good time with friends (a lot of sweet alcoholic cocktails / cake / pizza and cola) and then it can be even 300
To be honest I don’t think about a maximum amount of carbs, my weight is fine , I just eat what I like and adjust insulin to suit ,, the joys of a ” modern” T1 , I try to eat a healthy diet , some meals are carb packed others have very little or none , just depends what I feel like at the time

As many as I want.
Sometimes it is less than 10g when, for example, I have an omelette.
Other times it could be over 100g if I have a pizza and beer.
Usually it is somewhere between the two around 60g.
I have no reason to limit my carbs: I am not overweight and I am happy with my diabetes management.
@static192 what is the reason for your question?
Do you think you need to limit your carbs?
Are you having some challenges managing your diabetes?
I'd aim for <80g for a meal, though I do sometimes have larger meals (like this evening for example). FWIW I typically eat 35g for breakfast, 50g for lunch and 75g for supper. I also snack lots (and cycle lots and have a BMI of 22.9 apparently, so am not worried about weight, except when I think about hills ).
My main reason for limiting my meal carbs is that I am not keen on taking more than about ~7U of bolus at any one time, because if food absorption is slow (and insulin absorption is fast) I will need to treat a low while having lots of insulin onboard, which isn't much fun, and often leads to overtreatment and a later rollercoaster ride.
If I'm eating larger meals than that I will split my dose, even for a meal that I'd not expect to be absorbed slowly, but this means I need to pay more attention in the evening to time the second dose about right.
