Thanks for that Catherine. I have recently had a steroid injection in my eye. I have had this before and so would not allow them to do both at once as they wished to do as the floaters are so large that I would have been blinded until they disappeared. It is now getting on for two weeeks since the procedure and although they have disappeared o an extent the reining "blots2 just descend over my central vision withoug t warning. Initially these floaters are so bold and obliterating that they dominate the sight in both eyes.
I was surprised to find that my consultant hadn't a clue how bad this effect could be although my original comments had been noted. He asked me what I meant by the effects dominating the vision in both eyes as , not having had the procedure himself he could not imagine it.
I decided that I would ry to draw the effect in order to show him but it is difficult as floaters well .. float. The best way I can describe it is the effec you get if you drop ink into a bowl of water.
I had a look at the quiz and in the "eye" secttion the illustration for retinopathy was almost exactly what I wanted, In time the large blak areas break up and become stringy and of course the whole hing is in 3d and moving. However the illustration will be very useful
I think it very important for surgeons to see the after- effects of their work,.
I don't mean to frighten anyone by his. The steroid injection is the only hing that worked for me albeit for a short ime.
Anyone offered an avasin injection should not worry. This is a clear fluid and side effecs are rare. I have had several myself which unfortunately did not work although I understand the success rate is high.
