I'm really interested of the body's healing capabilities with diabetes. I know it is said in medical 'papers' that longer term diabetics (type2), over 10 years, reversal is no longer proven to happen....but how much can be done?
Things is, my body is already done and doing some improvements...some that I didn't believe would be possible!
I have PCOS...I had it from very early on as I didn't start develop womanly way hardly at all and wasn't able to naturally menstruate. Over the years, every few years or so I stopped to take medication for it to see what happens. And now in my 40's...all of the sudden my hormonal functions started working like clock work!
I have firm believe that PCOS have been my cause of diabetes too..it was discovered in my early 20's though looking at back, I must have been in verge of it some time before that.
Fast forwarding over 20 years to current situation...my 'female' hormones have been functioning normally last 3 years and no other PCOS symptoms other than insulin resistance are sowing signs...now after being low carb diet...I'm drastically adjusting my diabetes medication, taking less.
My dream would be to able to manage it all without medication. I'm fully aware that it is unlikely situation after all these years...BUT..since I've already had so big improvement and in so short time in carb reduction diet, little dimmer of hope is increasingly shining brighter. Am I blowing air into little flame under false pretenses...or is there truly a chance for drug free'ish existence for me?
Last year I did do some test that proved that my pancreas are still functioning...something to with some cells..it was to confirm that I am and truly belong into type2 group. Doctor had some doubt if I were to be change into different classification.

So... I wonder...what medical miracle cases we know and have here that might prove medical profession wrong of these things that there is hope for long term diabetics too?

I haven't got an answer for you but I am sure there are a few long term T2 who can give you information.
