Hi as part of my research into low carb diets and diabetes.
I am wondering how much insulin people are using daily... Basal and bolus, in comparison to their carb intake in grams.
I would appreciate any replies.
Please post your basal/ bolus in units and carbs.
Thanks.
Andy

Hi Andy, I don't low carb myself but thought I'd post up normal day as a starting point...

Morning, 6u long-acting (sorry I can never remember which is basal, which is bolus!), 5u short acting (30-40g carbs)
Lunch, 5u short acting (40-50g carb)
Dinner, 7u short acting (50g carb)
Bed, 11u long-acting (10g if sugars below 7)
general rule of thumb +/- 1u per 10g carbs if eating more or less that that, and 1u of short acting to bring sugars down 3mmols.

Overall (per day)
17u longacting
17u short acting
carbs 120-150g (low-moderate GI)

PS, some other stats that might help your research...
Sex - F
Age - 28
Lifestyle - fairly inactive
BMI - 21.5
