Anyone know how much insulin a non diabetic would naturally produce?
And as type 1s, is there a limit to how much insulin you would inject. Obviously people need what they need but as I don't low carb I think I would have a limit that I would inject before looking at other ways to reduce injecting

Good question and one I'm sure Phoenix will know the answer to, I'm sure I read somewhere around the equivalent 30-40 units but I can't be certain.

I don't low-carb either and inject 36 units of insulin at the moment.

My initial guess is there isn't a maximum a 'healthy' pancreas produces, as it just matches the carbs consumed?

Noble is that 36qa or 36 in total? As my basal is 24u and I could easily inject 12u for a big Chinese takeaway :)

It's total daily dose Dani, so both basal and bolus.

Good point dani, suppose then its if weight is needed to be gained/lost or maintained.

I'm around 12u TDD at the moment. I struggle to inject more than 5u at a time without repercussions

Thought phoenix would know lol

If she doesn't she'll make it her business to find out :) Always enjoy reading her posts and her contribution to the forum over the years has been fantastic.

I know Brett. I tried to diet at the beginning of December and I got ill and had raised ketones. It scared me now I don't know how to lose weight :( I exercise average of 3 times a week and have swapped crisps and chocolate for fruit.

I'd be grateful for any advice (and the Chinese is easier said than done! Ha it's my favourite!)

If you had raised ketones whilst dieting can only think your basal was too low. Your qa controls your food intake and your basal controls your bodies actual needs weather eating carbs or not.

Hmmm that's interesting, I hadn't considered the lantus. Though I was confident in that being correct. I'll look into it though, thank you.

Total daily dose for me is <20 units.

Gave myself a half unit correcttion today, took me from 8.4 to 4.4.

Haven't a clue I do wonder if there is attest as to how much people produce

The test usually used to see how much insulin someone is producing is called the c-peptide test. It's commonly used to differentiate LADA from Type 2. I guess they don't usually need to use it in Type 1s because it's pretty clear if your insulin production fails rapidly, but LADA fails very gradually.

Sorry, you'll have to wait for Phoenix to give you the figures though!
