how often are you seen by your diabetes doctor?

i haven't been seen since august when i first met my new adult team (i was changing from childrens to adults services), and was wondering if this is normal or if maybe i should get in contact with them?

how often are you seen?

i have type 1.
 
I'm in Canada and I'm type 2, but my team told me I'd be in every three months for the first two years and then we'd see after that.
 
i,m type 2 in the uk and only see a diabetic nurse at my surgery once a year
 
I'm like you and recently transitioned from children's to adults clinic. I was seen the same amount of times as I was in children's (every 3 months) I would defiantly ring them up to query why you haven't been seen yet.
 
I'm type two and was told I would be seen once a year but if any problems arise, the surgery door is always open. In fact I am having an hba1c test tomorrow as having trouble with a foot and doctor wants to check my 3 month levels 'to be on the safe side ' and check if there's a connection. I am fortunate to have a very sympathetic GP and he never takes risks. I think the norm is once a year but you should have access at all times though I know it isn't always the case
 
I haven't seen it GP since I was diagnosed in 2009 though I have had telephone confrontation sorry consultation!,but I have a check every. 6 months with the nurse

Usually just once a year although I've seen my consultant twice in the last 9 months due to changing to a pump, if you feel you need to be seen before August @hollyslot give your diabetes consultants secretary a ring and they will try and get you in sooner.
 
When I lived in East London it was once a year now I live in Essex I see the DSN's every 6 months and have phone and email contact, haven't seen Consultant for 2 years but I've got him on beginning of July
. I'm well controlled so I'm happy with this.
 
I am seen every 3 months depending on bloods....was seen more regular lately as was anaemic but went to see her wed and next appoinment is 3 months
 
I used to be seen every 3 months in the children's diabetes hospital and I knew I'd be seen less in adults (I think where I am seen the services are quite strained as it is a main hospital in London where it is very busy) but yeah it's been longer than I thought!
 
every 6 months by my endocrinologist and my GP makes me come in 1 time a year for a prescription review as well
 
Type 2

I was every 3 months then 6 months but now I suspect I will be 12 months as I am showing good control with good HbA1c results but only with diabetes nurse. I've never discussed diabetes with a GP.

I can contact my DN at anytime. They are usually quite good.

@hollyslot I think as Type 1 you would be seen more regular. I would ring them and ask.
 
I am anywhere between 3 and 6 months usually. I do have contacts, like most folk, should I need to speak to them in between.
 
In the UK you should be seen at least annually with the usual checks including retinopathy. As a T1 this might be every 6 months or 3 months if you are having problems. I'm currently on 6 monthly but could easily move to 12 monthly
 
I am seen every six months by an endocrinologist and as often as I feel I need by the DSN at my local hospital. I also have access to a dietician and psychologist if I feel the need. I am seen for a Diabetes Review annually at my GP Surgery. Even my local pharmacy get in on the act with an annual prescription review!
 
I transitioned last year and have been seen every 3-4 months ever since I was diagnosed 10 years ago, definitely look into it!
 
Normally once a year,but since changing to a pump my consultant wants see every 4 months for a year but speak to my DSN regularly on the phone.
 
I would love to say that I am seen every 12 months. However, my local healthcare team tell me they do not have enough diabetes consultants to see their patients as often as needed. Therefore, it is usually every 13 to 14 months. However, when I bought this up at my last "annual" review, I was told they will see quicker if I chase them. For example, if your driving license is due to be renewed.
Not great but at least they are honest about how to get around the system.
