Have finally got my appt for clinic 3 months late. I have an annual review but its never on time and the dept is always quiet when i go .Had a problem with my control and have rung a few times (answer machine) but no help ,was told my consultant was on hols and no one else would alter my meds etc so have battled through anyway
How often do you all expect to be seen if you are insulin controlled ??

Every 9 months which is my own choosing.

Every 3 months normally however last time the consultant said 6 months.

i see the consultant and diabetes specialist nurse every 3 months but it usually turns out more like 4/5 months. GP never specifically asks to see me. However if there is anything diabetic up in between I either mobile or e-mail my DSN and she gets back to me straight away - they are usuavery good at responding even though they don't always have the answer.

Every 4 months I attend the eye clinic .
Full diabetic screen and eye test is done once a year also.
Photograph of the rear of eyes is taken and any diabetes damage checked/looked for.

Hope this helps .
Anna.

In my case NEVER. I'm only seen at the GP medical centre.

I go to hospital every 6 months and talk to diabetic nurses if I need to. Eyes checked and feet checked every year. Guess I am just lucky !!

Same here, can't get past the GP to get referred to the DN team, doctors don't appear to be concerned about sugar levels going through the roof. The GP practice used to have a diabetic nurse, but they have long gone.

The sreening is done by a none specilst nurse who is concerned about diabetics and their care, but has to refer every one back to a doctors for any treatment etc.

If I did not make the appointments nothing would be done, apart from the foot screening and the hospital calling one in for the eye photographs.
