How often do people inject?

For most of my diabetic life I thought of 4/5 injections a day:
1 or 2 long acting depending on what insulin I was taking
then 3 injections: one for each meal
plus an occasional adjustment measure.

But now as I've really been trying to prevent my bg going high I can inject up to 10 times a day in tiny increments to try and keep my bg in range.
I've seen a lot of people's HB1ac results and I don't think there is anyway I could achieve something like that with 5 injections a day, but injecting and testing so often as the other option is getting quite difficult with work.

I was injecting a similar number of times before going on to the pump.

That is a lot of injections.

Have a look at the following and see if you fit the criteria for moving to a insulin pump, your consultant could argue your case under the ABCD recommendations using the Specific Quality of Life Issues (multiple injections interfering with your work and social life);

Every time I have asked or inquired into getting a pump I have been told in no unclear terms that I will not get one on the NHS (moderately decent control, never been hospitalised since diagnosis etc) and I have always tried to be realistic about how much diabetes impacts my life (maybe too modest/downplaying it) whilst trying not to make a fuss

I was the same, decent bg control and never been hospitalised due to DKA or a severe hypo but my endo argued my case under the Specific Quality of Life issue, sometimes it pays not to be too modest when explaining how diabetes can impact on your quality of life @isjoberg

Sounds like a solid plan!!

I inject once daily for long-acting and 3 - 5 times a day for meals/snacks depending on what I am eating. My last A1C in May was 6.1% with very few hypos (maybe one every 2 - 3 weeks).

All of my bolus shots tend to be split doses, so including my basal (which is also split) then I'm injecting about 8 times per day.
