Hi, recently diagnosed diabetic here, type 2 diabetes. Diet control.
I have been giving a blood glucose monitor by my GP to check my blood sugars, however no instructions were given as to when to test. It was all very vague.
I understand I should be testing 2 hours after a meal to see which carbs spike my sugars. Should I test before the meal too? Should I test when I wake up?
I always eat my meals late (7pm-8pm ish) so 2 hours after would be bed time for me.
As follows or is it too much?
Wake up
Before lunch
2 hours after lunch
Before dinner
2 hours after dinner/before bed.
What about ‘evening eating’ would I test 2 hours after that too if I eat something in the evening or should I finish the day on dinner? (My guilty pleasure is crisps in bed)
(I don’t eat breakfast and my first meal is lunch around 13:30)
Thank you for your help.
