Would you share yours skills and experience on how to ask conventional GP to change my background insulin from Levemir to bovine lente?

Explain to him/her that you do not feel well or healthy on the basal you are on, so could he or she prescribe 1 bottle of bovine lente so you can trial it. Just pop the bit in about it's cheaper than Levemir :)

Thats excellent, asking for 1 bottle to trial it. Youre right it is cheaper!
Havent met this doctor, out of the 4 in the practice the others are fairly conservative and consult with their computers more than the patient in front of them. This doctor has a reputation for being different, and dont want to second guess things but what can I likely expect and how to keep my emotions in check?

Just be quiet and polite and if he starts to say no then just say what do you suggest I try then, as I'm not taking Levemir any more.

That is brilliant. The appointment is at the end of the month, gives time for practice!
Thanks CarbsRok.

I have to say my GP is brilliant - and if already established a good relationship with her - so when my consultant flatly refused to prescribe porcine insulin to me (despite him knowing I'd stopped my background insulin which was Levemir) - I made an appointment with her. She didn't give it to me immediately - but only because she wanted to better understand it. So she made an appointment for me to come back inn two days time, went away herself and researched it - and when I went back she prescribed it. I've been on it ever since and feel much better. Good luck.

Thats good and cheering news and a good reminder not to prejudge people or situations.
