Hi
I have offered to help fund a study of the glucose tolerance test of women before, during and after pregnancy. I will bet that women whose glucose tolerance test rises for over 2 hours before suddenly dropping will have sugar problems. I wonder if there are subpopulations of such women, will they all have an increased possibility of getting type 2 diabetes? Will it matter if they come from poplulation which have had agriculture for over 10000 years? Will there be other types of glucose tolerance tests which are associated with sugar problems in pregnancy? Do you have any suggestions how I could help fund such a study. I do not wish to be taken for a ride so I want some (trusted?) agency to be involved in setting up the study.
If you wonder why I am willing to make such a bet it is because of informal interactions with people from India who seem to meet that criteria as well as a familly member.

Via Diabetes UK, we are able, by way of a donation of a certain amount, "adopt" a live research project. I know a number of local Diabetes UK groups to this for areas that interest their members. The research overview area of the Diabetes UK site can be found here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Research/Research-round-up/

I think you'll find such studies have been done, including the risk of later developing Type 2 diabetes.

Have a Google and read about the many studies already done and the facts they have provided.
