How to go to bed safely (right now)

So today diabetes suddenly decided I need less insulin. I didn't have serious hypo's, thanks to Libre, lots of teststrips and dextro's, and I used less novorapid than I normally do. Not a clue what the cause is (summer, pain in shoulder, honeymoon, sailing for a few days, time of month, a miracle or something else) and at the moment I don't really care. Easy as it is to change my novorapid and eat something, it is impossible to get rid of the tresiba still in my system. So what do I do now? Do I take a reduced amount of tresiba? Or none at all till tomorrow? Do I eat something to get me safely through the night? And what can I eat to do that? I really want to go to sleep in a half hour or so, but I'm afraid to. Last novorapid was six or so hours ago, and bs is 4,6 right now and going down. Any ideas?

I'm no expert but I'd encourage you to eat a snack (less than 15g) that you know will help maintain your levels overnight, rather than a quick fix that may spike or too many carbs. Id also suggest setting an alarm so you can check your levels in a few hours to check they aren't dropping. I find my BS drop when it's time of the month or hot weather. Hope you manage a good sleep :)
 
Three chocolate chip cookies and two slices of cheese on toast always works for me in those situations. A sophisticated mix of fast and slow carbs which works for any bad T situation, but make sure to glam it up a bit with chopped capers and oregano on the toast! If we're going to seriously hypo, we might as well do it in style!

Thanks! The snack I had figured out, but set the alarm in a few hours I hadn't thought of. Additionally I'll keep a slow-acting snack by my bed in case I'm going down again halfway through the night :)

Wonderful ideas, I'm off to the supermarket right now: you've made me hungry and craving capers, oregano and chocolate chips cookies now!
 
Off to bed now. Decided on a slightly reduced basal (minus 10%), made a high fat (to make the carbs hit slower) sandwich with butter, mature Dutch cheese and chorizo, and two thin slices of normal bread of wich I ate a quarter. The rest sits by my bed, awaiting results of nighttime testing, next to dextro, meter and phone for scanning the libre. I'll take a smallish sugary nightcap (smallish to not compromise a possible needed liver-dump, sugary to get sugars up a bit right now, nightcap because holidays and yolo). Goodnight, and thanks for the advices!
 
Allright. Fed another quarter of my sandwich to the dogs (3 of mine, 2 a friends, all in my bed) , but only because they looked real sad, hungry and neglected. Guess I'll have enough of my sandwich left to save me tonight.

I rather hope the dogs don't snaffle your sandwich as you sleep. From my experience of dogs with cheese, I'd imagine it'd be a massive temptation for them, if they can access it!

You forgot the Worcester sauce! On the chocolate chip cookies I mean;)
 
Good morning everyone! Woke up safely, slept well, and right through the alarm of course :) . Woke up with the second alarm. Libre said I went from 4,7 to 3,7 in a perfectly flat line, but it reads a bit low so must have stayed above 4 as meter read 4,6. Ate another piece of bread and went back to sleep. Next time I woke to 4,1 on the Libre, and a nice flat line again. So I have been lower than I like tonight, but no hypo's!
The dogs only stole my last piece of bread after I got up and put it on the table to take with me for safe driving :)
 
Will have to do the same trick tonight, as I'm still going low when food and novorapid are not in play anymore. But with two nice changes from yesterday: 1: No need to get up early, so so what if I lose some sleep. 2: Went to a birthday party today and claimed a piece of Bruce Bogtrotters chocolate cake to take home to bail me out of problems tonight :) Not bad when forced to eat something carby in the middle of the night, never mind the dentist!
