My fasting BS is the only difficult part of my diabetes. It has mostly been 7-9. This week, it's been crazy- 10-12!!! last night I finished dinner by 7pm, bread, meat and salad. This morning I tested at 8am...it was 9.9!! Those who have been successfully controlling their fasting BS, please share your experience.

You should try eating something low carb at bedtime for me two or three cherry tomatoes and a small chunk of cheese taken with a small glass of milk works.

I would also suggest not eating bread with your evening meal, bread is 40 to 50% carbohydrate which your body breaks down into glucose.

According to Professor Taylor, fasting BG will usually normalise after 30% of liver fat is lost. This is normally achieved via weight loss which acts to ''de-fat'' the liver.

I agree with Indy and here is my graph of weight loss at the beginning of my journey. Note that I wasnt testing during the first month from diagnosis but you can see with just about 8kg loss I was back to normal fasting - it took a little longer to really settle down and I now always have between 4.7 and 5.2 (which seem to be my base range). So the answer I will give is low calorie diet for a few weeks to shake the liver fat and bingo... it worked for me (and many others but your mileage may vary)

How does liver fat correspond to overall fat, I wonder? I am steadily losing weight through low carb, but I am still very overweight/obese and my FBG results are still higher than desirable. Would a few weeks of low calorie be useful at this stage, or is it best to wait until the BMI is in the normal range?
