@Addressing The Root Cause - there really isn't a totally agreed definition about what Type 2 diabetes is -other than the totally diagnostic definition (and therefore not too helpful to your question) which relates to a threshold of circulating blood glucose.
Part of the problem is that it's all extremely complicated once you get beyond very simple concepts - like, you can describe the progression towards T2DM as a hormone imbalance - therefore the root cause is what tipped the balance, which leads to the idea that reversing the condition could well be about tipping the balance the other way - which sounds suspiciously simple.
And it kind of is and isn't at the same time, depending on you, where you are in regard to these hormones, which is to say a laundry list of background factors, and what you may be willing to do - you are uniquely different to anyone else in terms of your personal reaction to various things.
All I can really say is that it has been possible for me to get to a point where I have been listed as being in remission without recourse to meds - but my story only directly informs someone with exactly my background, presentation and following the course of action I took.
What do I mean by all of this ? tell us about your story - that's ultimately all we can really do here, share our stories; there isn't a "best" or "universal" method to reverse T2DM, and we cannot prescribe ...anything... really - all we can do is learn from each other. But - that's been an incredibly positive thing for me, and a big part of my ongoing story.
I hope you find something useful, and good luck..
