I was diagnosed Type 1 in March 2013 and totally insulin dependent. Is it possible to tell when the honeymoon phase is ended. My DSN told me it is difficult to tell as it could be weeks, months or years as everybody is different. My BG readings vary quite a bit depending on diet, exercise, health etc. but my HbA1c has been pretty stable and last June was 6.6% (48.6). The highest it's ever been post diagnosis was 7.6%.

The Honeymoon Period can last weeks, months and even years in some cases. I don't recall much about mine and the term 'Honeymoon Period' was never mentioned back when I was first diagnosed, but I believe the first signs of it ending are the increased need for more insulin being injected.

I was diagnosed in May of 2013 and still in that period. Either that or I am v.sensitive to insulin.
I am an 80Kg bloke on 4iu morning and 6iu evening. The latter is sometimes increased depending on the meal. In theory I should be on anywhere up to 30-40iu.
Be thankful, I'm hoping to last a few more yrs at least lol
