I'm not expert in this. but I think a little bit more information may be helpful. Does the person also have diabetes? If so is the person on any medication? Does the person monitor their blood glucose levels and if so what's the range of readings they are getting?

This is totally dependent on the individual's situation and there is no one size fits all answer. (How long is a piece of string?) What does the individual's medical team say about this?
