I took on board all the help and advice that everyone gave me last week about lowering carbs and insulin, and I went well armed to see my doc on Thursday. She wasnt there but I saw another doc who agreed to less insulin BUT....... he took me off all my Lispro that I take for a reading of 150 or less which is usually 3 times a day. I now havent had any Lispro since Thursday lunchtime. The team told me that under no circumstances was I to reduce the Lantus, so I am now on 30 u of that and nothing else ( I was taking 9u or more of the Lispro a day ) My dietician told me that I must NOT reduce the carbs - I am supposed to have 37.5 a meal and 20 for each of my 3 snacks and a small snack of 10 at 5pm. Despite not taking the insulin, I have still had 5 lows since Thursday, including a 38 at 5am today. However, and here is the weird bit, I feel absolutely fine, in fact the best Ive been since I was diagnosed 7 months ago ( T 1.5 ) Im not sure what to think about this, does anyone have an opinion ? I would love to hear it ! I have to go back to see my usual doc next week - God knows what shes gonna make of it all. Oh, and by the way - stand by for a fanfare - I demanded to know why I have never been given any test results - basically, thats for the docs to know. Us patients just have to accept and do as we are told in Portugal and not ask questions but i got a look at some results when the nursey people werent looking and my HbA1c or whatever its called was 6.9 and cholesterol was 148. I think there should be a hooray in there somewhere !
