I can't remember if I took my morning shot. Should have taken it at 8am, at 11.30 I panicked and took the shot. As it's a cloudy insulin it can be easier to tell when you're unsure cause if you've taken it it still looks mixed (shaken).
It didn't. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to split/separate?

I wouldn't imagine it takes too long......minutes as opposed to hours....just an educated guess as I haven't used it in years...
 
Thanks, you're probably right. Looking at it now 2 and a half hours since I used it and it's nearly finished separating. Anyway, no hypos yet.
 
How long have you been on Humilin I.....

I would consider it an uncommon insulin now in favour of the flexibility of basal/bolus....

any thoughts on that..?
 
Been on it for about five years. I do basal/bolus but when on the Dafne course they decided to change my morning levemir to humulin I as it's supposed to have an initial kick to fight Dawn. But I still use levemir as my night time long acting. Dawn is ever present in my battle so I'm not sure humulin I is any better than levemir, it was in the beginning but not so much anymore. Use novorapid as my bolus. That doesn't seem to work in the morning either

I think I went on it for the same reasons as you....but in the end it didn't help the DP.....

you cant really stop DP but you can tame it......getting up early and eating is the best tactic.....and making sure your overnight dose is up at the maximum it can go...

Cutting your daily carb intake can also help tame the beast, but its not an overnight thing...

in the end you might need to get a pump if its causing you problems.....this was the reason a pump was thrown my way..
 
Was at the Type 1 clinic for the first time ever on Tuesday, after 35 years of being type 1, and two cancellations. And was sent away with the usual instructions of carb free meals to check background. Go back in 6 months to see if they will refer me to the next referral stage. I don't hold out much hope for getting a pump in my area. They seem to be broke and 10 years behind other diabetic health-care area's.
Will try reducing carbs during the day, see if that helps.
