My hubby cut himself shaving this morning and as I was testing my bloods when he came in I as a joke popped in new test strip and checked by using droplet of his head (he shaves head almost bald lol) it read 7.5 and he hadn't eaten or drank and is not diabetic like me should I worry
 
Should also say he's scared of needles
 
You could always try another test and see what it says. I don't take too much notice of a single out of range test. You could always book an appt with your doc to put your mind at rest. ?

Agreed but there is 20% tolerance in meter so could have actually been a 6.0. That's why a single reading is not sufficient to make a diagnosis.

Hi Mrs Gimli,

I would not worry, Your husband may have brushed his teeth, eaten or drunk something without really having a proper fasting.
I would think it is not wise to try and take bg test on your husband as it may cause un-necessary worry.
If he is worried, best have a proper check from the GP.

 
No I didn't take it in seriosly we were playing and I was just surpised
 
@mo, sorry, it does look as if I replied to your post, but it was just a general post.

Anything could have contaminated the test (shower soap?) so I wouldn't worry about that test but maybe repeat tomorrow morning. He's a big boy, he can face up to a little needle for once like his wife has to four times a day.

I acquired a new fandangled meter the other week which my wife unusually took an interest in.. I don't normally allow anyone to touch my D stuff.
"Do mine" she said just before supper.. So using a disposable lancet I keep handy, I did.. It was 5.5..
About an hour & a half after eating I tested mine it was around 6.1.
My wife says "oh, do me again" she came in at 7.3..? Then I saw the cogs turning in her head...
Now I pretty much know the parameters for a "norm" we ate the same thing, home cooked from recipes pulled up either on her tablet or out of some food stained healthy lifestyle books kept by the computer..
The only difference was she'd had a couple of glasses of wine...Then I saw the demolished bag of chocolate covered raisins & nuts behind her "snap top" (HP Envy.) gotcha! Said I.

Also the meters are for testing capillary blood and his cut on his head possibly was more than just capillary.

my daughter's friend tests her coke with them when she thinks she hasn't been given diet coke in pubs. She supposedly has a special tester but keeps forgetting it when she goes out

Mmmm. I may try this at home with a spare strip meter... (I uses one with a ribbon strip cartridge normally.)
I only have diet lemonade fer "shandys".. & lukozade for comparison... In fairness I can tell the difference with coke..
