Hyper following a hypo

My 8 yr old has recently been diagnosed with Type 1. She had a hypo of 2.4 this evening an hour after her meal. She was given 3 gloucose tablets and a biscuit. Her readings came up to 4.7 within 15 mins. I just tested her an hour after and she is now 17 and asleep. I have also given her her 5units of slow release insulin and she is still within the 3 hours of her novorapid. Should I treat the hyper or let her sleep and test her again before going to bed as I am afraid of stacking and also the other insulin might have started working by then. Any advice anyone? Thanks in advance

i wouldn.t give anymore insulin tonight....let her sleep and go to school tomorrow... although she may feel a bit grotty in the morning xx

Hi there rebound hyper r very common I get them all the time u can't seem to win if she hasn't got any keytones she should be ok but just keep an. Eye on her blood sugar but I'm an adult. Hi Blondie :)

Thanks everybody for the help. She continued to rise and was 20.9 at 11pm so I gave her 1 unit of novorapid and this brought her down so that she was 11 by morning. This living with diabetes thing is an art and a science! M

Glad you got her sugars down in the end. Keep fighting you're doing well with her, my mum was always the same with me and we eventually found the patterns :)
