Hi,
I am newly joined to the forum having struggling with type 2 diabetes for around 10 years. I was put on insulin a few years ago as I was suffering huge side effects with the usual oral treatment. I have a good few stone to lose and being on insulin along with thyroid disease has proved ghastly in trying to lose weight.
I've tried every diet/therapy out there, except perhaps the Cabbage diet.

I tried to get surgery for the new Endobarrier but the doctor at the hospital was totally dis-interested in that.

However, I say this cautiously as it's only been going since Feb 9th, that I have got some success with the Paul McKenna's Hypnoband, so far I have lost 6kg and seen a small fall in my bg. The real plus is that I get to eat chips and chocolate, albeit in tiny amounts compared to my previous consumption. To top it all I have managed to reduce my Novomix30 from 18 units twice a day down to a current 8 units!
My diabetic nurse has said that if I can keep it up then she will be taking me off insulin and trying me with a new drug that you take with food.

Either way I am aiming to shed the weight and the insulin, it may take time, but I just wanted to suggest the new book by Paul Daniels, available on Amazon for less than a tenner. No surgery, saved thousands of pounds and all the discomfort, worth a try?

hello neighbour :)

are you sure the book iswritten by Paul Daniels?? lol

i looked at that in WH Smiths the other day and wondered if it was any good!

Apologies for the Daniels/McKenna mix up, I don't know why I had Paul Daniels name on my mind. I did go in and edit the name to the correct one. Hopefully will make sense now.

My wife is not diabetic but she has been for a "hypnotic" gastric band this really seems to have worked for her as before she has done many diets but always came to a sticking point. It has to be better than some diets as you can eat the types of food you need to just in reasonable amounts
