Just had a hypo and I didn't even realise I was hypo. I just got in from doing a couple of small jobs, and felt hungry but I thought it was because of the time of day but when I tested I was at 2.6 my last hb1ac was at 8 so blood normally running high


Type 2 diagnosed 24/01/2013.
Novomix 30, Victoza, Simvistatin.
 
was there anything else going on as well, in terms of activity. I can often get down to 3-3.5 during exercise with the symptoms masked.

The other thing is you may not have actually been at 2.6,as the error in measurement is higher at the extremes. You could have been higher, did you retest?

I'm assuming any lower and you'd be lying down asking for jelly babies
 
Not really I haven't had a hypo for a while but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 hypo's,

Even with an Hba1c of 8 you can still lose your hypo awareness if your having frequent hypo's, the hunger feeling that you felt is a hypo warning sign and it's one that I get when my bg falls into hypo territory so you've not lost your awareness completely, however you should be picking up on them before you get to 2.6 so do check your bg more frequently just to be safe.
 
Sometimes bg levels can just change, so its important to test and where twice daily insulins are concerned, alter the amount of carb to suit the bg levels. Are you eating 'little and often' ..... meaning a meal followed by a small snack at specific times of the day according to how the insulin acts?
