I've been running my numbers pretty tightly since diagnosis just over a year ago. HbA1c has been steady at about 5.4/36; no doubt thanks to honeymooning.

Usually I've always been able to feel hypos when below 4mmol, but in the past couple of weeks I've seen readings in the low 3s and not had any hypo symptoms at all!

Is there anything I can do other than running my numbers higher? I assume not, but thought I would check...I guess this is pretty worrying and something I need to try and fix; although (touch wood) my symptoms did kick in when I hit 2.9 earlier tonight. The Libre is obviously very helpful but, without an alarm, I guess long-term I need to be concerned about this worrisome trend...

That is the usual advice @pinewood to run your bg levels higher in the hope that your hypo awareness returns, even with CGM that alerts you to hypo's you would still need to inform the DVLA of these changes if your a car driver so you need to consider this.

Hi @pinewood ,

If you're interested, this site has a free hypo awareness program. Cannot vouch for the content however.....

Congratulations on your great control!!

There is one thing you can do: avoid hypos. Each hypo you have can significantly reduce your hypo awareness.

Some CGMs have alarms. I pay out of pocket for the Dexcom G4. I use xDrip and an app I made so that I can make the alarms behave exactly as I want.

You could also look into getting a diabetic alert dog.

Cheers
