My son needs to have a brace fitted soon, and has heard that drinking fizzy drinks is not ideal. He uses Lucozade currently as a hypo remedy, and is concerned that using glucose tablets could break the wires on his brace.
What hypo remedies do others use who have braces?

fruit juice, 200ml cartons (value oj or apple) are cheap and easy

Hi @Kirstine Glucose tablets shouldn't break his braces, they start dissolving as soon as they are placed in the mouth, I use glucogel which is easy to use as you simply twist off the plastic top and squeeze directly into the mouth or jelly babies if I am exercising.

I remember having braces (although I wasn't diabetic at the time!). I would suggest fruit juice, but agree that glucose tabs should be safe. When I had braces I initially didn't drink soft drink, but later started drinking it and never had any problems (although I did take very good care of my teeth, brushing for 10min every night).
