Hi looking for advice! Ive just started really carb counting as i was told when first diagnose 2/3 units novo at brekky n between 3-6/7 at dinner n lunch so was guessing carbs! Not done dafne yet! But ive been using usual ratio of 1:10 last 2 weeks n first week it was fine but this week ive had a few hypo,s!

I have went running a few times throughout that but would this put my ratio out by that much more this week or are there very fast n very slow acting carbs n sugars that would put u out that much to cause hypos!

Running won't put your ratios out as such but it will lower your blood sugar. So either take a little less insulin before the run, or have some carbs - Lucozade for example. Not a huge amount, maybe half a small bottle and then have the rest of the bottle only if you go low.

I'm the same.

I took 1 unit less insulin today with my porridge because I knew I was gonna exercise intensely for an hour.

After I have showered etc it's time for lunch so I tested again, feeling shaky and was 3.9. Because I was about to eat I injected my humalog.

I don't know if I've made a studio mistake by injecting more when I'm low and then eating straight away.

This is not as easy as I thought. Still feeling very shaky after my celery and carrot soup and a slice of bread. Don't want to eat anything else because I'm trying to control calorie intake.

Exercise makes us very sensitive to insulin we inject and speeds up the absorption so I would give a 25% or 50% reduction (depending on duration) in your meal-time insulin if your going to go out for a run, there's a website that offers advice and first-hand experience of people living with type 1 diabetes and enjoy sport, it's called Runsweet and this is the link:

http://www.runsweet.com/

I have went on that site but it wont let me access a forum or that?

Are we talking about the Runsweet, I don't seem to have any trouble accessing the forum.
