What @CarbsRok is referring to is a glucagon injection kit. You should already have these on your prescription if you are a T1D and it's important to have one in the fridge at home (and other places where you spend a lot of time) permanently.Yes you can, but it's called something else.
Thanks Grant for taking the trouble to post the correct info, my brain is very mushy at the moment due to personal reasons. What @CarbsRok is referring to is a glucagon injection kit. Hi, my husband had to ring 999 early Saturday morning as I was having a hypo my bloods were 1.7. They used a glucopen on me and within minuets I was feeling reletvly normal. I was in hospital for 24 hours.
My question is does anybody know if you can get the glucopen on prescription ?????
Many thanx.x
It's available on prescription. It lasts upto 18 months out of the fridge provided it is still in date. So potentially much longer if stored in a fridge within date.My dsn recommended this to me after a 999 hypo. Didn't pursue it at the time, are they prescription only and do they have long storage life please?
Cheers that's really helpful think I should reconsider getting hold of one, thanks. It's available on prescription. It lasts upto 18 months out of the fridge provided it is still in date. So potentially much longer if stored in a fridge within date.
