Hi, I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes around 5 years ago. I take Metformin 3 times a day. I have never had A hypo until yesterday. I was sweating, my lips were tingling, face was numb, felt very dizzy but could not settle. My reading at that point was 3.3 then I ate and drank and it improved a lot. Just have not felt well since. Just wondered if the Metformin is not working so well now and if I should approach the Doctor for insulin? Sorry think this has been posted twice
Hi I had a really quite bad Hypo yesterday. Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes around 5 years ago and had never had one before. I take Metformin 3 times a day. Felt really unwell and wondered if it is an indication that I should now approach the Doctor for insulin?
There's more information in this thread though, you did test and at 3.3 it looks like you did have a hypo.
Diabetes is a disease causeing high blood glucose, not low, hypos are usually caused by medication for diabetes.
So having this one off hypo definitely does not mean you need insulin!
Insulin lowers your BG, and you were low already.
Are you on any other meds than the metformin?
Metformin doesn't lower your blood glucose levels by much, if at all!
There may be a few reasons for the reading. But the symptoms suggest a quick drop in blood glucose levels.
A chat with your GP is necessary to get the tests done it these symptoms persist.
