I've not been on insulin for 5months now having been diagnosed type 1 july of last year,I was put onto basel insulin,10u morning and night so after having hypos most of the time I was told to gradually decrease till eventually coming off it all together.Anyways I've thought I'd start taking Apidra which I've had in the fridge for a little while at evening meal the past couple of nights to help my wee pancreas out a little everythings been fine but today I thought I'd take it with my dinner also,I took 2u at 11'30 just before my,meal egg mayo on brown with cookie ;) sugars were good.So left for school run about 3 oclock and on the way home I felt ***** check bloodsugars and 2.4,panic!!!!! had nothing with me so had to run home to munch, though fast acting only lasted around 4 hours?

It can last up to 5 or 6 hours. The key point being that when you went out on the school run, you were probably already at a glucose level of 4 or lower and the extra exercise plus the remainder of the Apidra did its job. Lesson is remember to do a blood test before doing the school run!
