Good afternoon,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me.

For as long as I can remember I have always found that if I feel unwell eating something sugary helps. Recently I seem to be feeling unwell a lot more. Before and after eating. Sometimes I get very hungry and it makes me angry and I have to have something sweet there and then. Sometimes I lie down in the middle of the day because I feel unwell, and I fall asleep for a few minutes. I have also suffered from night sweats and waking up in the middle of the night for the last few months.

Diabetes runs in my family so I thought I would monitor my blood sugar levels to see if they are able to give me any clues.

My first glucose test was just before lunch, I had had quite a sugary breakfast (chocolate shreddies and a cup of non-concentrate orange juice. I can't stand plain milk, it makes me sick so I usually have something sweet.

I was feeling sick so I took a reading, it came out at 3.1mmol.

This morning I took a reading after waking up (I really struggled to get up this morning) and my reading was 1.6mmol. I did a control test on the glucose machine to test it was reading correctly, it came out fine.

I really do not want to be ill, so I am hoping someone can tell me that this is normal?

no it's not normal, I think you need to see a dr today, there are lots of reasons why someone goes hypo, you may need a bunch of tests done
tell the receptionist to pass your numbers onto the dr for an appointment today, A&E is another option
I would eat little meals every couple of hours till you get it sorted

a 1.6 for a medicated, diagnosed diabetic, would be be very bad news and treatment would be needed immediately, some folk may even need assistance......

to confirm your not diabetic and are on no meds that could do this to your blood sugar.......?

a 3.1 could be possible for a non diabetic, but your liver would respond and bring you back up.......

then i would say a doctors trip is warranted...........

did you test again after the 1.6?

how did you feel at that time.......?

Yes. I did a control test with the supplied bottle, which came out as normal. I then retested myself and it came out at 1.6 (again).

I had just woken up, which was a struggle today. I felt tired, hungry and a little sick. I started testing my bloods because I have been feeling sick a lot (well nauseous, I haven't thrown up).

do you have someone to take you?
if you are having trouble, I would ring an ambulance, it is serious enough for one

Hello Jack412. After eating a sugary breakfast I began to feel better, this dipped again at 11.

I will book an appointment with the doctor and ask them to have a look. I will be driving a lot for work, I don't want to take any risks. I also don't want to waste a doctor's time.

I don't want to scare you, but you need to take this seriously, you are not wasting the Dr time, you are sick
I wouldn't go to bed tonight before I saw a Dr, you can slip into a coma
