Hypothyroidism, hypertension and my gp

Hello all. Some advice please, on how to deal with my gp.

I have both the above as well as t2d.
My latest blood test showed a tsh level, thyroid stimulating hormone, was 3.3, the normal level is between 0.2 and 4.0. Most people ith hypothyroidism function best with a level of about 2.0. The more levthyroxin you take the lower the tsh will go. I take 50mcg.

Iwas told yesterday that because my tsh was in range I would not be given more levothyroxin.
Istill have symptoms of hypothyroidism but it is so much better. I wanted t go up by 25mcgs, which would still leave in normal range.

The tsh levels are also depressed by metformin. I pointed all of this out to my gp who tbh seemed really indifferent and only concerned by numbers.
What do I do? I could ask to see one of the other gps at the practice, but I doubt they would be happy toto go against thier colleague.
How do I get him to see that health is not just about getting a number into some sort of range?

Its like I have been given a bottle of fuel that runs out at 6pm every night, know that there is some more available but have been told I am not not going to get any.

Please some coping advice!!!!!

Seek another opinion, a lot of GPs have this standpoint unfortunately, if you find one that doesn't stick with them.

Explain how rubbish you feel, maybe have a look at thyroid uk also?

I think your Dr is quite right, he must treat his patients with due care and attention, working within established therapeutic guides. To needlessly over treat hypothyroidism is dangerous, and possibly fatal, due to the effect levothyroxine can have on the heart. Try not to worry about it so much, your feelings may be due to something else.
