I am Type 2 on Meds can type 2s develop Type 1?

Thanks John, I didn’t have the c-pep or antibody tests, I was diagnosed off the back of the 3 monthly blood tests I need for other medications I take. Doesn’t sound very scientific does it? “Yes, you’re a fat beggar, you’ve got it,”

The simple answer is that many GPs just guess to avoid the cost of doing the tests; I'm one of those 'guesses'
That’s terrible, you get told one thing and as you get your head round it they move the goalposts.

And obviously they guessed wrong misdiagnoses does happen often. my doctor symply said no more blood tests for you john it was about cost he was wrong in that as my diabetes specialist ordered antibody test before declaring me type 3E drug induced.
Sorry John, what’s 3E drug induced, if you don’t mind me asking?

It is when your diabetes is caused by long term theraputic use of drugs such as in my case corticosteroids specifically for me Prednisolone this is or was generally known as T3E.

"Drugs conferring a high risk of diabetes
Steroids: Steroid drugs can induce a form of iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome, and are probably the most widely used drugs which confer a high risk of diabetes. A Canadian paediatric study found that 0.4% of childhood diabetes was ascribed to medication, and 55 of 56 children in this category were on steroids. Monogenic diabetes was diagnosed in only 0.2% of children.

Anabolic steroids (synthetic androgens mimicking testosterone or dihydrotestosterone) should not be confused with glucocorticoids. Although they have many unwanted effects, diabetes is not among them."
