I cannot eat solid food, severe nausea for a few months now

I was put on Metformin earlier in the year around February to help control my type 2 diabetes, but ended up having irregular heartbeats and feeling very sick on it, so it was stopped, and after a couple of weeks they changed me onto the slow release version, but the same thing happened after acouple of weeks so they took me off it all and i went back to being diet controlled, except the nausea and sickness has never gone away, and i can only manage to drink fluids, (Usually tea) after all these months, with the odd few soft cerials if i really push myself. Im on two kinds of anti sickness pills, stemitil and cyclizine but im still unable to eat and have lost over 3 stones in weight without even trying. My Gp refused to treat the irregular heartbeat at first, just brushing it off as nothing to worry about, but i felt so ill whilst on holiday in yorkshire that i went to the local GP who prescribed beta blockers to help with the palpitations and nausea i was suffering and although these cured the irregular heartbeat, im still being sick 3 or 4 times a day, and feel really ill.

I have now got to the point of considering paying privately to see a consultant, something that i cannot really afford, but it would be worth every penny to feel well again. my Gp is only happy to treat the symptoms and not the cause, and i feel so weak that its driving me mad, i just cannot function anymore and my house is getting into a mess as i just have no energy, and want to sleep most of the day. Last visit they prescribed me antidepressants, but after two doses it felt like my insides were on fire and i started sweating and shivering.

I also take Lisinopril 20mg and Bisoprolol 2-5mg, anyone else suffered like this after taking metformin?

I have had some sickness with Metformin but not as bad as yours perhaps you could ask to be refered to a Diabetes specialist at your local hospital .Maybe some one on this forum will be able to help more but I would cartainly ask for a second opinion Hope you feel better soon

Hello, Im sorry you are feeling so ill all of the time. I was taking Metformin and was constantly being sick. My GP stopped the Metformin in June. I really think you need to see a specialist because it is obvious there is something very wrong. I have been ill for the past 5 years and after having absolutely loads of tests everything is coming back as normal. However I am now taking Anti Epileptic tablets and they help a little bit. I know how you feel when when you know for a fact that there is someting wrong and nothing can be found. It is so frustrating. I can only advise you to ask your GP to refer you to a specialist for to have tests to find out what is going on. Hope you get yourself sorted out soon. Carol.
